Puraana
By Sameer RahatDescription:
There is a particular kind of courage in looking back. Not with longing. Not with regret. But with open eyes; the way you'd look at an old photograph of yourself and feel both the distance and the tenderness at once. Sameer Rahat's sophomore full-length album is not a record about the past. It is a record about what the past does; how it moves through you, reshapes you, and if you are brave enough to let it, becomes you.
Across ten songs split into two sides, Puraana traces the full arc of that becoming. Side A opens new wounds and older ones — Kharaab, a reckoning with the self at its most undone; Ehsaan — a debt of gratitude too large for ordinary words; the title track Puraana, which sits at the album's quiet centre like a mirror you've finally stopped avoiding; Yahin Tak Tha — a gentle, necessary goodbye; and Dar Nahi Lagta — the exhale after years of holding your breath.
Side B returns to familiar ground; the world of Rozmarra, the EP that introduced many to SR's sound but heard now through different ears. The same morning, the same long evening, the same tsunami of a night. Only now, you know what came before it. You know why the subah matters. You know what the raat cost.
